34-233 PLATE, DETENT - ARGO ATV PART
Tolerance stack up along the input shaft and the housing can bring the mating dog clutch lugs too close on the forward or reverse gear when the dog clutch is in the standard neutral position. The problem can be identified with a ticking sound in neutral or when slight pressure is applied to the FWD-N-REV shift knob in one direction or the other.
Two different detent plates have been designed to bias the position of the neutral point either left or right of the standard position. With the vehicle running and idling in the neutral position, apply slight pressure either left or right to determine which direction cause the ticking to get worse. If it is determined to be when going in the direction of reverse, replace the detent plate with part number 34-233R. In the case of towards Forward, replace with 34-233L.
