On the left and right of each sprocket is a retaining ring that allows the sprocket to center itself during transmission chain adjustment. Any time you replace the sprockets replace the retaining ring # 107-10 on each side. If you have an older Avenger or Frontier that does not have these retaining rings add them to keep the sprocket from sliding to close to the brake rotor causing the chain to rub and cause severe wear on the rotor. There are grooves in the idler shaft # 810-59 for the rings to seat.

When replacing these sprockets install them facing as follows. On the left side of the transmission (Clutch Side) the lip or extended portion of the sprocket faces out towards the outer frame. On the right side (Driver side) the sprocket lip faces the transmission to align properly with the brake disc. Always pre-build the idler shaft with the new snap rings and sprockets before placing the shaft into the bearings.
